Actually, The Slacktivist reminds me that there is a silver lining to all of Fred Phelps hate speech, and that is as long as he is legally permitted to say whatever the hell he wants about gays, then other people who take a theological stance against homosexuality have no argument to fall back on about gay rights infringing on their right to free speech.

They can make their excuses, about how being forced to recognize gay marriage somehow violates their right to believe that homosexuality is a sin against God, but as long as Phelps has his freedom of speech, you can just point to him and say, "He's still talking, your argument is hollow."
