Seriously it's not one-upmanship. If I were doing that I couldn't pick a worse subject that human rights as Britain has more skeletons in the closet on that front than you can shake a stick at.

It's merely an observation - the USA is about ten years behind the curve on gay rights, and I find that really odd.
