One of the greatest benefits of unloading my storage 5x10 in Port Townsend, in addition to FINALLY being out of there, is that I was able to dig down to my gaming books.

I have "one, two, three, many!" of them.

Like hundreds.

Some people collect stamps, I collect WORLDS.

So I'm hip-deep in re-reading a chunk of things I haven't read in years and years, and I'd forgotten how much I love diving in:

Vampire, the Masquerade. I'm rolling around in the Sabbat, clanbooks, Malkies and the Dark Ages!

Mage, the Ascension. I ran a Mage game for six years, and I have hundreds of pages of in-character fiction that the players wrote! We were called the Kumbaya Crew by our other friends because we all had so much fun together without infighting!

Gurahl, Mokole, Naga, the Umbra, and the Black Spiral... Garou, you were juicy!

(Ah, White Wolf, how I loved you!)

And then we come to my absolute favorite utterly deranged yet splendid game setting:

Planescape.

It's nuts, just starkers. Victorian criminal slang plus Dungeons and Dragons: Gods, fiends, and a host of angels, er Aasimon, berk.([livejournal.com profile] wishme, yes, I have an archhost of archangels!) "You'll get the dark of it, cutter, or you'll dance at the end of the noose!" My old gaming group bought me a wonderful present one year: all of the boxed sets! Planes of Law, Planes of Chaos, and Planes of Conflict! Expensive and beloved!

Imagine a paradigm where bopping off to Mount Olympus to ask a priest of Hermes for a betting tip is not just normal, it's expected!

HEAVEN!

*giggle*

It's like I found a treasure trove and get to dig around in it like it's all new to me, because some of this stuff I haven't read in fifteen years!

Between this and Starcraft II and Civ V, I'm doomed.

DOOOOOOOOOMED, I tell you.

But in a good way!

Srsly, gang, I'm just basking in the Geeky glow!
