shirtlifterbear: (SHOCKING!)

Confession

So here's the deal:

Last week, we were at Pacific Place and the bookstore there had clearly ordered a ton of "The Golden Girls" seasons to capitalize on nostalgia related to Bea Arthur's death, and everyone that was going to buy them had bought them, leaving the store with some left overs which they then marked down to $18.99 a set.

I was soooooooo tempted but didn't cause I was broke and was sad about that.

Target today had the same sets, clearly for the same reason, and they were double marked down to $8.99 a SET.

I HAD to buy them.

And yes, I was ashamed that I wanted them but seriously $9 bucks a SEASON?

And I love them?

And... let's face it: I am that gay.

It's all tied up with my memories of Miami, and of convalescing trapped in bed after knee surgeries and watching them on Lifetime 'cause I was too high on pain meds to read. It's one of only three shows in history to have all four leads get Emmy awards for their performances, and it's a laugh riot. BE TOLD! ("All in the Family" and "Will & Grace" are the other two!)

So there I was but I was SO ashamed! So I told the smirking check-out guy, a little faux-hawked twinkie Gayby that they were for my mother's birthday with Tony smirking at me, and giggling because he COULD have totally given me away and he knew I knew it.

It's not cool, it's not right, but I am STOKED to have them!

Seven YEARS of the Golden Girls!

It's like a slice of heaven!

"SHADY PINES, MA!"

AMEN, Brother Steven, AMEN!

Can I get a witness up in here?

*blush*

Aw, shucks!

Pillow Talk! is my #1 depression movie. I can watch it over and over again. My personal record is 16x in a row.

We shall call you "GG5" for short.

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
You better smile when you say that, you handsome devil you!

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
"When Harry Met Sally..." and "Victor/Victoria" are mine.

"You've Got Mail" and "Must Love Dogs" are closing in on them, though, with a late surge by "Under The Tuscan Sun".

RomComs, I am for you!

Obviously...I hope...that's my favourite Julia speech. I used that monologue quite often myself. Never at audtiions though. In the company cafeteria, on a slow day at the office, perched on a barstool. Stuff like that.

Whenever they needed me to do a second piece, I did "The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun" as a melodramatic piece!

[identity profile] zurcherart.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
god.

It's probably best we were miles and miles apart. I would have done that too, but I couldn't remember all the words.

And for that post about being ashamed, you get to watch your current fave of the season on loud and twice back-to-back. You like the romances and the rom-coms? Me, too! And I'm declaring it here publicly. :)

I got over the sniggering teen cashier over my Fabio covers a while back. My friends write those books. I want to read them and support them.

So...what say you? Ashamed? :)

I got all the seasons via deepdiscount.com because apparently they have been $10.99 each for a while now. I couldn't pass it up either. Of the seven seasons I've ordered, I've only received 4, 6 and 7. Everything else is on backorder. It's been nice to see them outside of the Hallmark Channel because they cut little bits of dialogue here and there, and censor words like "slut" and "bitch"

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
It's wild how things that got past the censors back in the eighties are cut now!

And they weren't shocking then, other than hearing them spoken by little old ladies!

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
You're right!

I AM NOT ASHAMED!

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"And now the math teacher's dead! It's really sad but kind of a relief, I mean, we had that big test coming up next week!"

It KILLED!

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
It was so nice of Steven to play along with my delusion of having a boyfriend named Tony.

Four days, and they never met here!

It's shocking!

[identity profile] zenscribe.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
*thumbs up*

[identity profile] cecilgene.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
The Hallmark Channel are just a bunch of pussies.

Can I say "pussies"? Fuck.

Oh shit.

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
*cackle*

And Bea Arthur as "Maude" deciding to have an abortion?

You could NEVER do that now!

[identity profile] badrobot68.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Who is Tony?

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Don't think you're too old for me to turn over my knee and spank!

[identity profile] tzaddi-93.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! I used to watch Golden Girls with my mom. I loved that show.

Picture it: Sicily, 1936...<>

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
*happy sigh*

I knew I loved you!

[identity profile] badrobot68.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
*pretends to be shocked*

[identity profile] shirtlifterbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-28 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
*pretends to be kidding*

I am at the mercy of my manager's schedule. He's still setting up interviews for me and panels he'd like me to see. I'll know more next week.
