I can't tell you how many times I'll be reading from the list of examples of one of the tropes, say "Big Damn Heroes," and one of them is from one of my favorite movies, say "Serenity," so I go look at the link about that movie, that lists all of the tropes that are used in that movie like "Waif Fu" and "I Call It Vera" and "I'll Be In My Bunk" and those tropes have lists of times they've been used and that leads me to another film and ...

Except when someone invents a new trope. I mean, someone has to be first, right? It's just kinda depressing to think that it's extremely unlikely after thousands of years of literature...
