I need beard conditioning advice. "Someone" says my beard is like steel wool. Who am I to argue?

Conditioners and creme rinses (OLIVE OIL IN A PINCH!) applied to said beard can do the damned thing... just saying.

That makes sense. Gray hairs are more wiry than regular hairs.

If your beard is coarse and wiry, good luck. I have uber fine hair on my head, but (comparatively) wiry and coarse facial hair. I friend who uses Clairol's Nice and Easy to color her hair recommeded the Nice and Easy Conditioner to tame my facial hair. They do sell it separately, but it's not cheap. You use a very small amount a couple of times a week. One 2 ounce tube lasts me about 2 months. It also makes it easier to run a brush thru my beard without snagging.

I have the uber-fine baby hairs on the head, as well, and have never used or needed conditioner up there!

My beard is kept pretty trim, #3 guard, but the white ones are starting to win the battle, and they are referred to as "OUCHY" by someone whose opinion really matters. *grin*

Thanks for the tip!

Just get some plain boring cheap conditioner from the grocery store. (Be sure to pick a scent you like.) Put it on after you shampoo and let it soak a bit while you're doing the rest of your shower, and then don't rinse it all the way out; leave a little bit in.

Other than that, just condition it into submission.

I've got some Bear Wash that does an incredible job. For me it's worked better than any conditioner I've tried.

Hon, I've known about the coarser white hairs for a while now and they are not as easy to keep trim as one's softer darker hair.

My beard is a tad course but not overly so but still...

Would be nice if I could, but having a trimmed beard is already out on the ragged edge in healthcare. A long bushy one is right out!

Srsly I use the same shampoo on my beard...not that scratchy, never have complaints (the odd drunken person - usually girl natch - wanting to fondle it usually says 'ooh it's actually soft!' so I think its OK). Looks more wiry than it is.

I think I have the opposite problem: it's more wiry than it looks!

I condition my beard when I condition my hair. Trimming helps it stay soft, too. Also, I rub the extra pomade that doesn't wind up in my hair, on my beard.

And... hydrate, young man. Hydrate.
